Upgrade in Lakewood

This weekend one of my bestests (yes, it's a word, I just invented it, okay?) from college came into town for a wedding. Since she was staying with me it was only appropriate to take her out and show her a good time.

I had been meaning to make it out to Around the Corner to check out the recent renovations but have been hard pressed for time lately. So, what a great opportunity.

We headed there around 11 p.m., expecting to hit the peak of crowdedness. But to our surprise, once we made it back out onto the patio we had more room to breathe than we could have imagined.

We even found a table!

(Not the bar where we were...)

My first mission though, was to check out the new space.

It wasn't what I had expected, but rather quite nice. They took over the building next door, knocked out the adjoining wall, and built another bar inside. This extra bar is great because on busy nights, it can take upwards of 15 minutes to get served from the bar there.

For some reason I thought it was going to be an extended outdoor patio. It was much nicer than I'd expected.

We didn't spend much time in the new area once a table outside was spotted, but I was impressed. The added space was much needed for this popular Lakewood bar.

My only beef with it was that they had a band tucked away in the corner that was entirely too loud for the small space. Another reason we perched outside that night.

Because we'd all had long weekends and were preparing for a busy Sunday, we headed home after one round of drinks.

On the way out, I had one last little treat as I ran into Alexa during her post-wedding party. We had just been talking about getting together for drinks, and this was a sign that it must happen soon!

Anyway, if you're in Lakewood, Ohio this summer, I highly recommend checking out the new space at Around the Corner. It's a great outdoor destination for any weekend socialite.

Cheers!
