Wow, it's been a while.
I'm really sorry about that.
Between my recent trip to LA with the ole college crew (post to come), jumping as much as possible to get my skydiving license (which I did earn...click here to see the video of my first licensed jump), and some other recent developments, life has seriously gotten in the way of blogging.
Anywhosits...I'm here to actually write something of worth today, believe it or not.
With all the things that have changed recently -- which I'll keep under wraps as 1) you don't need to hear the drama that is my life sometimes, and 2) it's really not relevant -- there have been some people who are rather unhappy with me.
Luckily for my sake, I adopted the "you can't please everyone" mentality long ago and am only slightly phased by this disapproval.
However, I find something intriguing that I'd like to share with y'all, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this...
As I was working late last night to finish up a video project, I surfed over to Facebook for a quick gander at my news feed (gotta keep up somehow, right) while my movie was exporting.
To my surprise, I found a rather nasty status update that was clearly directed at me. Whoa!
It didn't use my name, or exactly what had happened to anger this person, but with the accompanying comments it was quite obvious where this disapproval was directed.
What'd I do about it, you might ask? I laughed out loud. Hard.
This is one of the most passive aggressive things I've ever witnessed - using social media to tell someone indirectly of your frustrations (read: hoping they'll see your status update and know you're mad at them).
I'm not entirely sure I get the purpose of this, especially considering that the decision that was disapproved of only affects a very small population (this person not included). So really, anyone reading this aside from me wouldn't have a damn clue what's going on.
Doesn't it just make the other person look silly?
Maybe that's just me.
Anyway - there's my rant for the day. Not so much of a "holy shit I'm pissed" sort of rant, but more of a "seriously, you're an idiot" rant.
Has anyone else experienced this social media passive aggressiveness? Did you find it just as ridiculous?
Cheers!
-A
I see this ALL THE TIME. Status updates that say things like "What are we, 12?" or "Seriously - so over it." And even worse than that.
ReplyDeleteNever understood how people thought they were getting the better of someone by using Facebook. It is the most childish and embarrassing thing in the world.
i get embarrassed for people who do this crap. ball up and tell me to my face you're upset with something i've done.
ReplyDeleteThat's lame.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting a license!
narm - yeah, it happens way too often. call up your BFF and bitch about it rather than making the rest of us have to deal with it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe asshole - exactly. grow a pair.
susan - thanks!
Newest development - I was unfriended by this person today. Maybe they realize how stupid they were being, eh?
